This book is about a little boy trying to figure out what is love and going on an adventure to meet people and animals to ask what is love for them.
Anti-bias element:
Positive and reflective elements: the book is full of people with different colors, backgrounds, and clothes. And none of the clothes or jobs they got assigned are stereotypes. It’s filled with positive energy and kids could find their reflection and what they love could mean to them.
Promoting positive social emotions and relationships:
The people the main character visits have different jobs and different things they love, the main character might not understand their love, but it shows many possibilities of what love could mean to the kids. Kids could learn to find love through many things like a fish or a donut, or simply realize home and family is where the love is like the main character. It motivates the kids to notice the small grateful things in their lives to find what love means to them while understanding the feeling of love.
Appeal to different ages of people with its illustrations and meanings:
As an adult, I found this book full of meaning and interesting to read. The young kids might find it a little hard to understand why the main character doesn’t understand all the other people’s love, but it’s a beginning point to teach the kids what is love and where is love. And I think understanding this book is a process throughout the development while the kids understand the love around them.
